As much as I love using Firefox, the program can become a bit of a memory hog. The good news is that you don’t even need an extension to help minimize the memory usage. There is a line in the about:config preference settings that will release ram from Firefox when you minimize the application. In short, go to about:config, look for config.trim_on_minimize, and either set it to true (if it exists) or add it as a Boolean entry and set it to true.
The Solo Technology blog has detailed instructions for setting this preference.
