Last week I noticed the “Powered by Google” logo next to the search box on MySpace, but the search results seemed anything but Google-powered. This week, the Google search has kicked in, and now Google AdWords are also shown on the search results.
I’m happy to see both changes. The MySpace search was very poor, and did not return results that I knew were there. I would use Google to search the MySpace domain, so this implementation saves me a step, and should make MySpace easier to use for those that do not know how to limit a Google search to a particular domain. My initial reaction is that the advertising via AdWords is a good move as well, as MySpace did not make it easy to advertise (no information online regarding advertising, only a note to submit an email, which then may or may not generate a response from MySpace). Not all of my campaigns are for products that target the MySpace demographic, but that is another issue.
