New Google Inlink Tool

by morgret on February 5, 2007

The link: query on Google has long been a source of frustration for people trying to gauge the number of links to a site. Google just announced on their Webmaster Central Blog that there is a new tab in the Webmaster Tools page called Links. There is still the disclaimer that this may not be 100% of the external links to the page, but it is a big improvement over the link: command. In addition, you can see inlinks to specific pages. The webmaster tool shows about eight times the number of links as the link: command.

Update: Danny Sullivan posted a lengthy review and has gathered a considerable amount of information over at Search Engine Land.
