Experience

2007 – present Site Manager , ISKME, Half Moon Bay, CA
I promote the Open Educational Resources initiative and the OER Commons website using search engine optimization and marketing. I curate resources, and work with the site development team.

I have reduced costs for ISKME through awards and grants that have provided training, services, and donations. I have also increased site traffic by increasing the clickthrough rate of ad campaigns, while decreasing cost per click, and by increasing the number of resources on OER Commons.

2009 – present President, Strike Models, Newark, CA
I manage Strike Model’s website, including design, content, and e-commerce. I also am in charge of search engine optimization, social media, marketing, and outreach for the company.

2006 – 2009 Owner, Morgret Designs, Fremont, CA
I provided website services to small business owners, including website maintenance, search engine optimization, Google AdWords campaigns, copyediting, and content revision. My work also included technical editing and layout in Microsoft Word, and proofreading and editing of Microsoft Powerpoint presentations. Maintained a personal and a professional blog.

2004 – 2005 Technical Writer, Enterprise IT Division, InDyne Inc, Vandenberg AFB
I produced and edited computer security plans in the DITSCAP format for Air Force computer systems at Vandenberg Air Force Base. By editing electronic document templates (primarily Microsoft Word), I significantly reduced plan completion time and increased plan accuracy. I improved employee productivity by providing informal computer training and technical support on an as-needed basis.

2002 – 2005 Technical Writer, Security Systems Division, Quintron Systems, Santa Maria CA
At Quintron, I wrote and revised documentation and training for hardware and software products in the physical access control market. I also provided graphic design, market research, and document support for marketing and sales departments. I analyzed custom software, consulted on aspects of user interface and interaction.

2001 – 2002 Research Assistant, Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, Menlo Park CA
I was part of the Knowledge Media Lab, where I explored how to use new technologies to present the scholarship and teaching, with an emphasis on online portfolios. I produced a CD showcasing Carnegie Scholars’ multimedia portfolios, and was co-author of the poster session: Online Peer Review of Teaching. This was an internship position.

2000 – 2001 Technical Support, School of Education, Stanford University
I provided technical support and training to faculty, staff, and students in an environment of about 500 computers. I assisted in School-wide technology standards, technology policy definition, and technology purchases. I also maintained the School web page.

1998 – 2000 Information Analyst, Special Education Local Plan Area, Santa Clara County Office of Education
The focus of this position was the database system with 62,000 records of students currently or formerly receiving special education services in the county. I was responsible for data analysis, report generation, and recommendations to district and state officials based on the database information. To help maintain the accuracy and integrity of the database, I conducted user trainings, revised the user interface and documentation, and developed methods to detect anomalies in the data.

I was responsible for technical and sales support to customers of hard drive controller cards.
